Jónas Reynir Gunnarsson’s Krossfiskar (‘Starfish’) is the second novel by one of Iceland’s celebrated young writers. An urbane, somewhat surreal anti-Bildungsroman, one of the novel’s key motifs is the sea, and on this cover the letters float on a surface of abstract oceanic forms. Since the story is set mainly at night, a dark colour palette seemed fitting. It was fun to include the publisher's imprint in this floating/sinking dynamic.
