Fríða Ísberg, Slitförin (Partus, 2017). 64-page paperback, section-sewn with French flaps and velvet lamination. Printed lithographically. 136 x 216 mm.
Slitförin is the debut collection of Icelandic poet Fríða Ísberg. The cover contrasts the fluid, organic form of the human body with heavy, chiselled letterforms (an adapted Albertus). Once interwoven these two elements compliment each other and embody a tension within the poems, which wrestle with the competing interests of self and family, desire and responsibility. The cover was selected as the best of 2017 by the Icelandic national newspaper. The original illustration is by Dýrfinna Benita.
