The typescript of this book was discovered among Anthony Burgess’s papers after his death in 1993. Our brief was to design a pocket-size paperback that evoked the typographical covers of Burgess’s era without over-stating the book’s modest claims - not a wild tale, but a thoughtful study. We paired a minimalist design with a rich, tactile material whose embossed oceanic texture invites metaphorical association without being didactic. Printing the publisher's logo in orange was enough of a nod to Burgess's own novels.
